How you can Volunteer
Animal Behavior Management Volunteer Program.
If you have a pet, and you want to volunteer together as a team. You would be placed in our Animal Behavior Management Volunteer Program. You and your pet would have the opportunity to:
- Be a part of our general meet and greet team
- Involved in individual and or family interaction time
- In our online reading program streamed from our Community Outreach Center
You and your pet will need to:
A) participate in an assessment
B) take a basic facilities training course
C) be placed in the rotation.
You would also have the opportunity to take our Introduction to Animal Assisted Activities in the Healthcare Profession class where you can be certified and/or accredited to participate in off-site programs and opportunities.

If you want to get involved as an individual volunteer, but don't have a pet we have opportunities in our public relations department and maintenance department.
Public Relations Program can be greeting people at the door and checking them in. You can also help on the main floor by directing people where to go and help them find the information they need. You may also need to assist with interactions by instructing people how to best interact with the animals and help other staff as needed.
Maintenance Program involves helping to care for animals, clean and disinfect the facility as needed, to ensure a safe and healthy level of excellence.
There may also be opportunities to help construct and/or create new exhibits as well as assist other staff with animal interactions.
